Cytology
Cytology refers to the microscopic examination of cells from animal tissues or fluids. It is a valuable diagnostic tool that can be used to identify diseases, assess the severity of illness, and plan treatment. Cytology is minimally invasive and provides valuable information. It is often used in conjunction with other diagnostic tests, such as blood tests and imaging studies.
Our lab provides a high-quality cytology service; and all samples are examined by experienced, board-certified pathologists. A large proportion of our cytology cases are scanned by state-of-the-art slide scanners and examined digitally, ensuring faster turnaround times and opportunities for case discussion amongst pathologists for more challenging cases.
Our pathology team is available to answer telephone queries during lab working hours to help with the interpretation of cytology reports and the diagnostic process.
As with any submission to a diagnostic laboratory, appropriate sample collection and handling are crucial to ensure accurate and meaningful results.
